Introduction
Stuart joined chambers in 2010 after a long career in Her Majesty’s Courts Service. He qualified as a Barrister whilst employed at a senior level in the Courts service. He spent many years advising Lay Magistrates on law and procedure and retired from the Service as a Deputy Justices Clerk. He has gained invaluable experience in people management and a great understanding and empathy of people in need of guidance through legal procedure. In 1994 he was instrumental in the Fred and and Rose West case in Gloucestershire and sat for two weeks as legal adviser to the Chief Metropolitan Stipendiary Magistrate at Bow Street, Sir Peter Badge, in the committal proceedings for Rose West.
Civil
Credit Hire and general civil matters to include Personal injury. Stuart is also available to advise on Music Copyright Law within the Intellectual Law field.
Family
Both public and Private Law-Care proceedings, Domestic violence, Ancillary relief, adoption and fostering of children.
Crime
Stuart is able to represent clients on various criminal matters in the Magistrates Court. He has particular experience defending clients charged with road traffic offences.
Personal Interests
Stuart is an accomplished guitarist to professional level, a keen golfer, musical arranger and reader of Jacobite history.
