Stuart was called to the Bar in 2001 when he was employed as a Magistrates Clerk. Holding a senior position in the Courts service for 28 years has given him a wealth of experience in all aspects of criminal law, family law(in particular public and private Children Act matters), and regulatory law in relation to Heath and Safety, Trading Standards and Environmental Protection. He has extensive experience in Liquor Licensing law and has been a tutor for the Magistrates Courts service.
In 1995 Stuart was the clerk of the Court in the Infamous case of Rose West, sitting as legal adviser to the Chief Metropolitan Stipendiary Magistrate, Sir Peter Badge, Senior District Judge at Bow Street. The committal proceedings lasted nine days surrounded by the watchful eye of the world's media.
Stuart is a golfer, fly fisherman and has a very keen interest in natural History and Scottish Jacobean History.
